ISSEN (一閃) is an independent samurai action short film written and directed by Tomo Nogi and filmed in the rugged natural landscapes of New Zealand.
The story follows two skilled swordsmen, Suzuki and Shimakura, whose conflicting paths lead to a final confrontation. Inspired by classic samurai cinema while grounded in realistic martial arts principles, ISSEN combines traditional swordsmanship with modern action filmmaking techniques.
The film was produced with the support of local performers, martial artists, and filmmakers who shared a passion for historical action storytelling.
